Install VLC media player

Install VLC from VideoLAN’s official site or via Homebrew/winget/distro packages, then verify with vlc --version when the CLI is on PATH (or launch the app).

Install VLC from https://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (official OS installers only). Or: macOS brew install --cask vlc ; Windows winget install -e --id VideoLAN.VLC ; Linux apt/dnf/pacman install vlc (or Flatpak/Snap from your distro’s docs).
